Novel, non-invasive method for detection of brain disorders

A new non-invasive method has been adopted to detect oxidative stress in the brain to help in early detection of brain disorders.

Existing techniques to detect similar changes are highly invasive, requiring withdrawal of a large number of cells or tissues from the body. The new method  can detect oxidative stress even before symptoms develop. The method is based on ‘Raman spectroscopy, which shows the scattering of light by molecules. and is a wonderful tool to detect any structural changes in the molecules caused by oxidative stress, leading to Parkinson’s, Alzeimer’s etc

Studies also found that Vitamin C acts as an anti-oxidant to reduce the oxidative stress.
