Alcohol allows gut bacteria to migrate to the liver promoting alcohol-induced liver disease ,a study by researchers at University of California has warned.
The research papers reveal that they discovered the deficiency of REG3G- naturally occuring anti-microbials –promote progression of alcohol-induced liver disease. To find methods of stemming the tide of liver damaging microbes, researchers bumped up copies of the REG3G gene in intestinal lining cells. It reduced bacterial growth and was found to protect from alcohol induced fatty liver disease.
