Antibiotics may raise risk of kidney stones..

The prevalence of kidney stones has increased by 70% and a new report suggests that the use of oral antibiotics
may be part of the reason.
The study used health records and tracked exposure three to twelve months before the diagnosis and found that exposure to any of five classes of anti-biotics significantly increased the risk of kidney stones
The drugs ranged from broad-spectrum pencilins which increased the risk by 27% to sulfa drugs which were associated with more than double the risk. The risk for children under 18 were significantly higher than for adults.
