Rare surgery at FORTIS hospital gives new lifeto a girl who couldn’t walk.

The consultant  reconstructive orthopaedic surgeon at Fortis, Bangalore performed a complex, single stage multi-level constructive surgery on a 13 year-old ,giving her a new lease of life. The girl suffered from’Spondylo epiphyseal dysplasia, a rare genetic disorder caused by malformation of the growing ends of the bones. A technique called ‘open-closed wedge’ technique was used. Both the legs were straightened and the loose ligaments in the knee tightened to enable her to walk with stability.
